Sharpen your backcountry medical skills and become an asset to your friends in an emergency by taking our Mountain Safety & Rescue Wilderness First Responder course! This course will focus on preventing and treating emergencies in a wilderness setting, especially as it applies to the winter alpine environment. Throughout the course, students will get hands-on practice providing care and transporting patients by participating in numerous realistic medical simulations. Training will take place in a classroom setting in Boise, as well as at a shared field site near Idaho City. Our courses are personalized, practical, and utilize modern training tools such as biofeedback CPR manikins, and realistic wound packing task trainers to enhance understanding and improve knowledge retention. This course is being offered in collaboration with our local partners at Avalanche Science, and is taught in accordance with all current guidelines outlined by the Wilderness Medical Society. Full refunds are only issued if requested 21 days ahead of the course start date. Clients will be given an 80% refund if requested at least a week prior to the course start date, or at anytime if requested due to severe illness/ injury or for a family emergency. No refunds issued after course begins.
